Who is Vemana?

Vemana is a remarkable medieval Indian philosopher and poet from around 17th century. He was born and lived in Andhra Pradesh, India. Telugu is the language spoken there and almost all Telugu speaking people are familiar with Vemana's extraordinary poetry and grasp the simple and deep universal values in his poems. He believed in human equality and dreamed of universal brotherhood.

The ideas in his poetry show his openmindedness and give us the impression that he might have been at least 300 years ahed of his time; his poems are very meaningful, practical, and beneficial to the individuals even in this 21st century although Vemana wrote them in the 17th century. this is a clear proof of the timeless quality of these values. No wonder he is called the "Poet of the People."

What is Vemana Saying?, based on poems of Vemana, is the result of the author's passion to provide positive and meaningful values to children at a young age to help them become responsible and conscientious individuals. This book cetainly helps spread multicultural knowledge and moral gems.
